The Patagonia Double Header is a carefully crafted sporting journey through both Chilean and Argentine Patagonia, combining two incredible destinations into one unforgettable adventure.

This is far more than a fishing trip.

It is an immersive experience built around world-class fly fishing, authentic culture, breathtaking scenery, exceptional food and wine, and the camaraderie that defines The Wandering Sportsman. From remote freestone rivers and hidden mountain lagoons in Chile to the legendary spring creeks and technical trout waters of Argentina, every day offers new water, new landscapes, and new memories.

Hosted personally by Ray Miller, this small-group adventure blends exploration, storytelling, and adventure with some of the finest trout fishing on the planet.

Day-by-Day ItineraryDay 1

February 7
Departure for ChileGuests depart the United States on overnight international flights to Santiago, Chile.

Day 2 — February 8Arrival in Santiago & Transfer SouthArrive in Santiago, Chile and connect on a domestic flight into Patagonia.
Upon arrival in southern Chile, guests transfer to our riverside lodge surrounded by breathtaking mountains, rivers, and untouched wilderness.
Depending on arrival times, there may be an opportunity for an evening fishing session or time to relax and prepare gear for the days ahead.

Days 3–6 — February 9–12Chilean Patagonia Trout FishingFour full days exploring classic Chilean Patagonia waters.
Expect:
  • Freestone rivers
  • Mountain streams
  • Spring creeks
  • Hidden lagoons
  • Sight-fishing opportunities
  • Aggressive trout willing to eat dry flies and streamers
Fishing is conducted via:
  • Drift boats
  • Walk-and-wade sessions
  • Vehicle-accessed river systems
Evenings are spent enjoying outstanding local cuisine, Chilean wines, and fireside storytelling at the lodge.

Day 7 — February 13Scenic Andes Crossing into ArgentinaAfter breakfast, we begin our journey across the Andes into Argentina.
This transfer day is part of the adventure itself, offering incredible mountain scenery, remote landscapes, and the feeling of truly traveling through Patagonia.
Depending on timing and conditions, we may stop to fish select rivers or scenic waters along the route.
Arrive at our Argentine lodge that evening.

Days 8–11 — February 14–17Northern Argentina Trout ExperienceFour full days fishing some of Argentina’s most legendary trout waters.
This portion of the trip may include:
  • Spring creek fishing
  • Technical dry fly opportunities
  • Float trips through breathtaking valleys
  • High mountain rivers
  • Sight fishing to large trout
  • Streamer sessions for aggressive browns
The diversity of water throughout this region is remarkable, allowing anglers to experience multiple fisheries and techniques during the week.
Between fishing days, guests will enjoy:
  • Traditional Argentine asado
  • Exceptional local wines
  • Authentic ranch-style hospitality
  • Stunning Patagonian scenery

Day 12 — February 18Final Fishing Session & Return Toward Buenos AiresEnjoy a final morning fishing session before beginning the journey back toward Buenos Aires.
Guests will overnight in Buenos Aires and enjoy one final evening together celebrating the adventure.

Days 13–14 — February 19–20Buenos Aires Exploration & Farewell CelebrationEnjoy time experiencing the culture and energy of Buenos Aires.
Guests may:
  • Explore local markets
  • Enjoy Argentine cafés and steakhouses
  • Visit historic neighborhoods
  • Shop for gifts and souvenirs
  • Experience one of South America’s great cities
A farewell dinner will be held during our final evening together celebrating the rivers, landscapes, friendships, and memories made throughout Patagonia.

Day 15 — February 21Departure for HomeGuests transfer to the airport for return international flights home from Buenos Aires.
While the trip ends here, the stories—and the friendships—will last a lifetime.
